Front cover images

Photoshoot Planning

I have planned my photoshoot that i have conducted  in order to collect and gather the photos that I would like to use for the front cover and contents page of my music magazine. I have chosen to use my friend Romy as a model, as she is most suited to my theme of simplicty. She has worn minimal make-up in order to achieve the 'natural' look that I am promoting in my music magazine and natural short hair. She has worn a grey baggy jumper that will symbolise the comfort of teenagers listening to chart music. I used the Plantsbrook Drama Studio as my location when considering the photoshoot, due to its black walls I could get an all black plain background, so the focus of the photo would be just on my Model. I also tried using a white background, to compare the images and see which photo best fits my plan. Using a good quality camera i was able to take some good photos, and using both high key and low key lighting to portray different perspectives for my images.

Research into Make-up ideas

November/December Feedback

I have read through my feedback and will take into consideration of the feedback and improve upon my previous work.

Photo Planning- Main image

I have put together a collection of the 'Main Images' from different pop music magazines. The celebrities can be used as examples of how imagary and photography can be used to attract a large audience and to create effective and powerful images, which can be used as inspiration for my music magazine. It is essential for the front cover to be eye-catching, and the use of lighting, hair and make-up, camera angles and background setting are all key focus points when creating my main image. Different magazines all use different editing techniques to portray different messages and styles of images.

Using Rihanna as an example, a close-up, mid-shot camera shot is used. This type of shot focuses on the smaller internal facial feautres. This is very effective in showing the beauty of Rihanna, facial construction such as her cheek bones and the way her make-up is done, it portrays a strong and bold message that you don't need lots of people/props/extravegent background to create a good main image, and this idea of using just a plain white background shows to be more powerful, attracting the attention of people and influencing them to buy the magazine. Her facial expressions also add to the powerfulness. No emotion is shown.

The use of make-up has been carefully thought out, the 'simple and more natural' look gives a different side to rihanna, as the public are used to seeing a much more glamourous side to her character. The idea of simplicity is shown through her make-up, making the image flawless, almost 'perfect'

The use of lighting is also used to create this main image. Bright lighting is used to bring out her complexition, creating the idea of healthy skin, the lighting makes it look like her skin has that healthy glow.
