magazine. The masthead for this cover is in thin black capital lettering, with a red exclaimation mark. I have used the colours black and white to represent the plantsbrook colours as these colours are associated with the school. Next to the masthead is the plantsbrook logo, in black and white. This is to show the school's trademark and the target audience and readers of this magazine can be familiar with the school. The main image is a school girl wearing the school uniform and she is sitting at a desk. This image portrays a student at plantsbrook school in which the readers of this magazine will hopfully be able to relate too and offers a sense of realism into school life. Below the main image is the 'Puff' stating that a free pb pen is included, and hopfully not only encourage more people to purchase the magazine, but also to promote the school. The cover lines on the side show the contents of the magazine and inform the audience what is included within the magazine.

Plantsbrook magazine cover design 1
This was my first attempt at designing a cover for a school
magazine. The masthead for this cover is in thin black capital lettering, with a red exclaimation mark. I have used the colours black and white to represent the plantsbrook colours as these colours are associated with the school. Next to the masthead is the plantsbrook logo, in black and white. 3 different masthead designs
In this media task, we had to design 3 different masthead for a plantsbrook school magazine. The first masthead uses the effect of 'Block lettering' to make the text font bold and noticable. I have used a dark black background, and used white bold capital lettering to draw attention to the title for the target audience. Within the white block lettering i have used a red fine liner to outline each letter, using the colours black, white and red because it the colours associated with plantsbrook school, and therefore not only rememberable, but also recognisable. The purpose of this masthead is to grab the audiences attention.
The second masthead is on a white background. I have used multi-coloured capital letters to write 'PLANTSBROOK SCHOOL 2015'. This gives a very friendly and childlike impression on the reader. Next to the writing is the plantsbrook school logo, identifying the school brand and also to make it memorable to the target audience.
The third masthead is a very simple and formal layout. In the middle of the banner writes 'Planstbrook School Parents Guide 2015' in a very formal font. This masthead is simple, yet attracts the more mature target audience, and symbolies that the magazine content is also very simple and 'straight to the point'.
